Sony announced the development of a new Exmor RS sensor: The “Exmor RS” is a CMOS image sensor that adopts a unique ‘stacked structure.’ This structure layers the pixel section, containing formations of back-illuminated pixels over the chip affixed with mounted circuits for signal processing, in place of conventional supporting substrates used for back-illuminated CMOS image sensors.

Sony is planning to announce a DT 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 SAM lens that recently was leaked on the Japanese website digicame-info. The product name is SAL55300. The suggested retail price is 50,400 yen (around $640).
On their blog today Sony showed their new action camera for the first time. The camera will be tiny and lightweight, it will have SteadyShot image stabilization and an Exmor R CMOS sensor. The ultra-wide angle lens will be made by Carl Zeiss.
