The last Sony a6500 model was announced back in October 2016 and the Sony a6300 was announced in February 2016. The model before that (Sony a5100) was announced in August 2014 (the Sony a6000 was introduced in February 2014). The new Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens is expected to be released in the Summer of 2018. B&H currently lists the lens shipping date as September 2018. From the press release:
