DCfever.com published some sample images taken with the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens ($1,069.00). The lens is expected to start shipping on January 17 on the US. The detailed technical specifications can be found here.

After my last post in December, the price of the Ricoh GR compact camera dropped another $80 and is currently selling for $619 (its main competitor, the Coolpix A, is still listed for the MSRP price of $1,096.95)

Another Canon EOS 7D Mark II rumor: the camera will be announced at the CP+ show in Japan (February 13 – 16, 2014). Just like the Nikon D400, a 7D replacement has been rumored for years, but there has not been anything reliable so far to convince me that this camera is really coming. A new version of the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L IS lens could also be announced soon.

AP reports that the Ricoh GXR camera system is already discontinued in the UK and is no longer in production (check current availability on Amazon UK):
“In an interview with AP at CES, Ricoh Imaging UK managing director Jonathan Martin said GXR sales have been discontinued in the UK and, as far as he knows, production has stopped altogether.”
The article mentioned that the last remaining GXR stock is still available in Germany (check Amazon Germany): Back in April 2013 I reported that several GXR products were already listed as discontinued in the US and today they are even no longer listed at B&H. There were rumors at one point for a new GXR camera, but I guess they never materialized.

Tamrac, the producer of camera bags, cases, straps and other photography accessories, has filed for chapter 11 (reorganization petition under the bankruptcy laws of the United States). The details are available on their blog.
In a recent interview with AmateurPhotographer at CES, Toshi Terada from Olympus confirmed that they may go back to producing DSLR cameras one day:
“Nobody knows 10 years away… once we can get a very nice share [in mirrorless] we may expand the business to DSLR again, but at this moment we are just concentrating on mirrorless and we have no plan to go into DSLR.”

At CES JK Imaging announced a new line of Kodak products… a new lens camera modules for smart phones, just like the Sony QX10/QX100. This new Pixpro camera automatically qualifies them for the 2014 worst camera of the year award. The press release:
