Samsung rumors

Samsung applied for a patent on a 28mm f1.4 with 75 deg FOV, 44 mm image diagonal lens (35mm full frame). Why would they be interested in full frame lenses is beyond me, especially when there is a very low chance for Samsung to re-enter the DSLR market. Yes, the Samsung GX DSLR line is dead (source). In the future, concentration will be on the just released NX product line. The Samsung NX10 (listed @ B&H for $699.99) will be the first in a series of future NX products (source).

On another note, CNet Asia spotted a flier at Samsung’s CES booth with a drawing of a 3D camera. The design looks very similar to Fuji’s 3D camera.

Next from Ricoh: 28-300mm GXR lens

Two new lenses coming from Tamron

Tamron is expected to release two new zoom lenses in the first quarter of 2010: 70-300 VC and 18-200.

Do not have all the details, but the two new products will probably be replacements of the current Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro (released 2005) and AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom (released 2006) lenses.

Pentax EVIL, 645D price rumors

Two rumors from the world of Pentax: Pentax is expected to release an EVIL camera this year that will look exactly like the Samsung NX10.

Pentax rumor #2: The medium format Pentax 645D will be released in March 2010 and the price is expected to be US$ 6,500.

Other announcements before CES

Update: Olympus just uploaded their latest set of p&s cameras – see them all @ dpreview.

Too much going on before CES opens tomorrow, here is the recap:

Panasonic also released a new $21k high end 3D camcorder.

Sony announced a series of twelve point and shoot cameras, some of them with built-in GPS and compass.

Samsung also introduced the TL210 and TL205 p&S cameras. The previously leaked Samsung CL80 and the the TL240 were also announced.

Casio: four new compacts.

The only “serious” photography announcment came from Canon with the new Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II USM.

Sony announced a line of SD memory cards (?)

Eye-Fi 8GB Pro X2 SDHC card announced and available for pre-order.

New 16GB and 32 GB CF cards from Lexar.

Rollei announced an iPone like p&s camera:

Omnivision has developed a 14MP HD sensor to be used in cell phones, as well as a sibling sensor with the same pixel count for use in compact cameras.

Kodak announced 4 new cameras (including the Kodak super zoom Z981), but I fail to see the rumored “Entirely new type of camera at CES”, maybe it is the Kodak Playsport:
