The big surprise, the Sony a7r IV mirrorless camera, is now officially announced (product listings: Adorama | B&H, see the press event here, sample photos available here). It features the world’s first 35mm full-frame 61 MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor with latest-generation BIONZ X image processor:

Nobody expected that: today Sony will announce a new a7r IV mirrorless camera today (ILCE-7RM4) with a new 61MP sensor. There will be also a few new accessories: VG-C4EM (battery grip), ILCE-7RM4, and XLR-K3M.

Sony will hold a “special live event” tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16, at 10:00 am EST. There is no reliable information about what exactly will be announced, but the new products will be photography related (AlphaUniverse, #sonyalpha). Stay tuned for additional information.
