List of products rumored to be announced next week for the 2018 CP+ show in Japan

Updated list of rumored/expected products to be announced next week for the 2018 CP+ show in Japan:

→ Canon EOS 2000D, EOS 4000D, EOS M50 cameras and Speedlight 470 EX-AI flash

→ Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art and 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art lenses

→ Tokina Opera 50mm f/1.4 FF full frame DSLR lens for Nikon and Canon mounts

→ Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 50-200mm f/2.8-4 ASPH Power OIS lens

→ Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/2.8 APS-C lens (expected in March after the CP+ show) and a new Laowa Cine zoom lens

→ No new Nikon mirrorless camera – maybe a new 60mm macro or an updated 300mm f/2.8 lens or a new compact camera

Two new Sigma lenses leaked: 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art and 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art (UPDATED)

Sigma is rumored to announce two new lenses for the 2018 CP+ show next week:

Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art full frame lens: available for Canon, Nikon, Sigma and Sony E mounts (probably with an adapter) – this will be a direct competitor to the excellent and expensive Nikkor 105mm f/1.4E ED lens
Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art full frame lens: unknown mount configuration

Fujifilm X-H1 mirrorless camera additional coverage

Cinema 5D interviewed Fujifilm Manager Jun Watanabe where they covered the Fujifilm X-H1 camera launch (recap via FujiAddict):

Fujifilm now says the Fujifilm X-T2 is for “high amateurs”
The Fujifilm X-H1 is for “professionals” shooting video and photos
X-H1 AF has been improved for Sports
They are targeting small low budget crews for Video
ETERNA was developed because other Simulations were “too brilliant for extended viewing” which probably means saturated for film use.
ETERNA has less color and smoother shadow tones.
8-bit was used because of technology and cost concerns
The F-Log ETERNA LUT can be used for the X-H1( and X-T2)
F-Log is being considered for a future Fujifilm X-T2 firmware update (which will make using ETERNA easier).

Leaked: Leica DG VARIO-ELMARIT 50-200mm f/2.8-4.0 ASPH POWER OIS lens

Press pictures of the Leica DG VARIO-ELMARIT 50-200mm f/2.8-4.0 ASPH POWER OIS lens leaked online. I assume the official announcement will be next week before the 2018 CP+ show.

This Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 50-200mm f/2.8-4 ASPH Power OIS lens has been under development for a while and will be Panasonic’s 10th premium lens after the Leica DG Elmarit 200mm f/2.8 POWER O.I.S. lens ($2,998) that was announced last year (see all Panasonic MFT lenses). The 50-200mm lens was first displayed at the 2016 Photokina show:

Fact: high-end mirrorless cameras keep getting bigger

When the new flagship Fuji X-H1 mirrorless camera was announced last week I watched an B&H interview with a Fuji where the rep (Justin) started off by saying something like – we had to make a professional robust body, so we had to increase the size of the camera:

“we need a body that is a little bit bigger, a bit more robust, that was sized right but also gives us the chance to use more technology”

Here is a size comparison between the two-year old Nikon D500 ($1,896.95) and the new Fuji X-H1 ($1,899) – both are APS-C cameras (courtesy of CameraSize):
