TopazLabs A.I. Gigapixel 1.1 update released

TopazLabs released A.I. Gigapixel 1.1 update (you can get a free trial). Here is what's new:

  • Expanded system compatibility with a CPU mode, which allows more users without a robust GPU to run A.I. Gigapixel on their machine.
  • 6 new  Artificial Intelligence models for different scaling (200%, 400%, 600%) across three settings for input image quality:
    - None - For high-quality images without noise, results in much better detail retention
    - Medium: Improved versions of the included enhancement models
    - High: For images with lots of noise and artifacts, produces a smoother artifact free enlargement while retaining and enhancing perceived details in the image.
  • Resolved issue with not retaining DPI sometimes
  • Resolved sizing issue with size not passing through correctly sometimes
  • Bug fixes (see changelog)

If you believe the Internet, Samsung is now also making sensors for Fuji/Pentax/Ricoh

Fujifilm and also Ricoh/Pentax... The source? A random comment made by somebody on a  forum. Then another forum referenced the first forum, then another website quoted two sources, then a desperate rumors website quoted 3 sources... and so on, you get the idea.

While there is some evidence that Samsung and Fujifilm/Pentax are/have worked together, I just would like to remind you of some of the fake/made up Samsung/Fuji rumors reported in the past few years:

List of questionable reports about new products “rumored” to be announced for Photokina

As I already reported, the Sony product announcement at the IBC 2018 show yesterday was not photography related: Sony announced only two new camcorders (HXR-NX200 and HDC-3500). No new Sony a6500 replacement or a Sony a7sIII cameras were announced at the IBC show yesterday as some websites have suggested. There was also no Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2 CF FE lens announcement on September 10th as some websites have suggested... as I already reported as well...

Here is a list of questionable reports that can be found online about new products "rumored" to be announced for Photokina:

Adobe reports record revenue (again) + list of Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop alternative

This is my sixth "Adobe reports record revenue (again)" post and while I am very happy that Adobe is doing well, I think they should bring back the standalone licensing option for their photo editing software if they really care about their customers (they won't and they don't) - not everyone wants to be locked to a monthly payment plan forever.

Here is a list of Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop alternatives:

And here are the latest Adobe financial highlights:
