Olympus announced Stylus SH-3 and TG-870 compact cameras

Olympus announced two new compact cameras:

Olympus Stylus SH-3 camera (replacement for the SH-2, not yet available in the US): 16MP, 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor, 25-600mm f/3-6.9 lens (35mm equivalent), RAW, 4k video, 3″ TFT LCD screen with 460,000 dots, ISO: 125-6,400, shutter speed; 1/4-1/2,000, 16.5 fps, built-in Wi-Fi (more info).

Pentax K-1 full frame DSLR camera: price and kit lens rumors

The latest rumors on the upcoming Pentax K-1 full frame DSLR camera:

The price is rumored to be €1,999 for the body-only (around $2,200, US prices are usually lower)
The K-1 will be available as kit with the 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens
New HD Pentax-D FA 15-30mm f/2.8 SDM lens will also be announced (it’s basically a rebadged Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di USD)
An updated roadmap will also be published

Canon wants to be the #2 mirrorless camera manufacturer, will “ship a lot of mirrorless products” at the end of 2016

In a recent interview with the Japanese website ascii.jp, Canon President of Marketing Sakata Masahiro confirmed that they are planning to “ship a lot of mirrorless products” in the third and fourth quarter of 2016. This means a possible new Canon mirrorless camera announcement for Photokina (September). Canon has ambitions to take the second spot in the mirrorless market (currently they are at #3 after Olympus and Sony). Interestingly enough, Nikon is also rumored to announce a new mirrorless system in late 2016/early 2017.

Canon recently filed a patent in Japan for a 50mm f/3.5 Macro IS lens designed for a full frame mirrorless camera.

Samsung cameras on display removed from B&H store in NYC

B&H recently replaced their Samsung display in their superstore in NYC with handheld video cams. Last week there were Samsung cameras on the same spot. B&H still lists Samsung cameras on their website.

In the past few months there have been multiple reports indicating that Samsung is pulling out of the camera business or at least putting everything on hold.
