Ricoh GXR Mount A12 for Leica M mount lens to be released soon

Yesterday B&H started taking pre-orders for the new Ricoh GXR A12 unit for Leica M mount lenses. This is a good indication that a shipment is on its way to the store (B&H won’t start taking pre-orders otherwise). Some more pictures of the unit can be seen over at LeicaRumors.

Ricoh to announce Leica lens cartridge for the GXR system

Ricoh is about to announce a new Leica mount cartridge for the Ricoh GRX system. A prototype was already shown at the CP+ show last year. The unit will have a 12.9MP 23.6×15.7mm APS-C size CMOS sensor and a newly-developed focal plane shutter. The unit is expected to be released in autumn of 2011.

Micro Four Thirds module for Ricoh GXR

The first rumors about a Micro Four Thirds module for Ricoh GXR system camera surfaced back in June. In the past, Ricoh has shown several prototypes of different cartridges, but have never hinted for a possible Micro Four Thirds solution. Ricoh’s GXR roadmap vaguely mentions that other “expansion units” will be available in 2011 without providing more details.

Ricoh GXR 35mm f/1.8 Macro patent

Ricoh filed a patent application 2010-175627 (published August 12, 2010, filled January 27,  2009) in Japan for what appears to be a new 35mm f/1.8 Macro lens. focal length f=33.1mm aperture Fno=1.80 image circle 28.4mm macro 1:2 floating focus mechanism

Ricoh GXR prototypes shown in Japan

DC Watch has multiple pictures of different Ricoh GXR prototypes shown on the CP+ Camera and Imaging Show 2010 in Japan. One of them is the previously rumored 28-300mm GXR cartridge: On display was also a Ricoh GXR A12 28mm f/2.5 cartridge and Ricoh GXR Leica mount cartridge: as well as Ricoh GXR Hasselblad cartridge:
