Rokinon announced two new mirrorless lenses – 50mm f/1.2 and 21mm f/1.4 that will be available in Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds and Sony E mounts. A reader contacted Rokinon and asked about the previously rumored 50mm f/1.2 lens. Referring to a Facebook post from February 2014 where Samyang Asia said that they will not release such lens, Rokinon responded that they are still working on a new 50mm lens that will be released “very soon”:
Last year Samyang hinted that they are working on a new 50mm f/1.2 lens. A reader recently asked the company on Facebook for some updates and Samyang responded that the 50mm f/1.2 lens will not be released.
Few weeks ago Samyang confirmed that they are working on a new 50mm lens. In a recent post on their Facebook page Samyang Asia mentioned that a new 50mm f/1.2 lens is on their roadmap for 2014. The lens will be available in Canon, Nikon and Sony mount.
A reader contacted Rokinon (Samyang) on Facebook with a question about a potential new 50mm or 55mm f/1.4 lens. The response was that such lens is in development. This is the current lens offering from Samyang and Rokinon.
