Canon never released any official statements on the report that Viltrox was forced to stop selling RF-mount mirrorless lenses until today. The German site Photografix Magazin published the first official statement where Canon Germany indicated that third-party lenses infringe on their patent and design rights. Here is the full text:
It seems that Canon is actively preventing 3rd parties from releasing mirrorless lenses for RF mount – take a look at this conversation between a customer and the Chinese lens manufacturer Viltrox: Viltrox basically confirms that Canon told them “to stop selling all RF mont products”.
