Fujifilm price increase
Fuji announced today another price increase on color negative film, color reversal film, black and white film and quick snap. Stock up now before the price increase kicks in on April 2014. Here is the press release:

Fujifilm corporation has announced that it will implement a worldwide price increase for its photographic films. The price increases are substantial and it would be an increase of at least double digit, but will vary depending on products, markets and regions.

1. Products:
Photographic Film: Color Negative Film, Color Reversal Film, Black and White Film and Quick Snap.
2. Date of Price Increases: Effective from April 2014 onward
The demand for film products is continuously decreasing and the cost of production, such as raw materials, oil and energy, stays at a high level and cost increase associated with lower volumes becomes much serious. Under such circumstances, despite our effort to maintain the production cost, Fujifilm is unable to absorb these costs during the production process and is forced to pass on price increases.
To sustain its photo imaging business, Fujifilm has decided to increase the price of photographic films.

Fujifilm remains committed to photographic products despite its price change.

The new pricing structure will be applied to each market based on its individual conditions.

For short I used Fuji film and I mean the photographic film, otherwise it will be Fujifilm film which sounds weird.

is there even a fuji film left…

Fuck off Fuji. Buy from those who still have commitment to us (Fomapan, Ilford, Rollei, Kodak Alaris, etc.)

And they make reversal film? Not all of us film shooters are finding excuses to inhale chemicals in the dark you know ;)

btw, you posted an image of Neopan 400 which was officially discontinued by Fuji in July of this year. ;-)

      Heck NO.

All respectable photography education begins with film.

Is that right malchick???? Funny that…given that I am entirely self-taught and from my experience digital spurred my photographic growth 10 fold compared to the 5 years I shot film.

Cost of Velvia 50 today – about $11. Sending it for processing and high quality scanning (16 to 30 Mpix) $20 minimum, Add cost for shipping to and fro depending on how many films $3-8. So the final price of 1 slide films is about $40 — increasing the price of film by few dollars won’t mike big impact on final cost…

That may not be smart move from Fuji if they intend to force people to switch to digital.
Not everyone will buy a Fuji digital camera if they have to do the jump.
