Hope the 24mm will be as good as the 35 and the 85mm.

Anyone any idea why the Nikon version is a bit more expensive?

    • ennan

The NIKON has the AS chip so you can control the aperture through the bodyas well as having full metering etc.

I’m hoping this is as good as their 35mm and 85mm. Love both those lenses.

      • ennan

        AE chip rather. Stupid autocorrect.

        • shadowfoto

not ‘chip’, more likely full D-type ‘brains’, just like latest version of their 85mm lens.

          • ennan

Chips, brains – however you describe it it’ll allow full metering, aperture control on the body and record all the EXIF data just like the new 85mm and the 35mm.

I’m really impressed with those lenses and I’ve been waiting for the 24mm for months. Also want to know more about the tilt shifts they’re supposedly working on. They’ve proven they can play with the big boys in terms of optical quality – a cheaper alternative to Nikon’s offerings would be welcome.

It’d be lovely if they could shrink that 24mm and give it a NEX mount. Even a 24/2 would be lovely. I believe such a lens would push me over the edge toward buying a NEX-7!

I have the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 and can attest that it really shines when used with the NEX-5N. AF is very accurate and works pretty fast too.

It would be extremely stupid to use this huge lens on NEX. They can easily do something much more compact and better optically for mirrorless.

      • JED

Which could be why the poster said “if they could shrink”….

  • I’d love a 24mm 1.4 and the Canon lens is well out of reach for me. This could be a good alternative although the manual focussing will be a right pain in the backside! Why can digital cameras have proper focussing screens!
