Canon USA issues a product advisory for the EOS 5D Mark III light leak issue:

Under almost all shooting conditions (including dark environments) this phenomenon will not affect your captured images. However, if you would like Canon to inspect your camera, we will provide this service free of charge upon request beginning in mid-May. Please contact Canon using the information below to request service.

Canon also released firmware updated v1.1.2 for the EOS 5D Mark III.

  • this phenomenon will not affect your captured images???

Really? even if the light measuring is just wrong…
That’s another bullshit after the Nikon says their LCD is more accurate than D3/D700

    • Harold Ellis

      dude go to DPReview
have you placed D700, D800 next to calibrated monitor with same photo on it?
      i did.
D800 looks wrong, same as D700 does, but much closer to reality.

  • Opinion…

‘this phenomenon will not affect your captured images’ because images don’t care if they are over- or underexposed but it will affect your mood like green cast on D800 when you shoot something white but you see something greenish. Where’s our firmware update?

thats right, i blow ALL my highlights it dont matter just a picture

    • WoutK89

The green cast is LCD only, not on the picture itself, over- or underexposure to do show on the actual picture.

Canon France say the bodies concerned by the light leak issue are those whose 6th digit of the serial number is a 1 or a 2.

  • Rob

Umm, it isn’t the lcd light I’d worry about – the more significant leak comes through the viewfinder – e.g. this youtube video…..

  • Jim

    I..also have a light leak.

  • R!

Your guys are in the wrong forum!!!! go complain somewhere else about unfinalized 5DMrk III problems!!

    • Whose complaining about the Canon? All I see are people complaining about the Nikon, despite the fact that this is a Canon topic.

      • D400
