Leaked pictures of the upcoming Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/1.2 PRO and 45mm f/1.2 PRO lenses

I already reported on the two upcoming Olympus lenses: M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/1.2 PRO and 45mm f/1.2 PRO - both were already registered with various government agencies. I expect the official announcement to be for the PhotoPlus show that will take place next week in NYC.

Olympus already has one fast PRO lens (25mm f/1.2). Olympus is also rumored to announce a new camera.

Here are some additional leaked pictures of both lenses:

  • If I, as a working schmoe and (mostly) non-professional photographer, could justify to myself outlaying a combined AUD$3000 on a pair of primes, this is the pair I would buy (pursuant to reviews etc).

Justification made a little more difficult by the fact that I’ve already managed to justify the f/2.8 PRO trinity and the 60 macro. I may have to find a way to reconcile myself to the 17mm anyway.

I shot a wedding in April, mostly using the 12-40, and mostly setting that at either 17mm or 40mm. So I could have done that just using these two primes. They are great ‘go-to’ focal lengths.

I love their lenses, but their prices are crazy, similar to the FF equivalent. I sold my E-M5 since I got sick of lack sensor development in m4/3. I was keen on the E-M1 II but E-M1 II + 300 f/4 Pro, costs 30% more than D500 + 200-500, just insane. Such a shame they didn’t go with APS-C or can’t develop a BSI stacked sensor with high DR. Surely they could get Sony to build them one.

      Agree

With these crazy pricetags, I will go to Fuji XF lens or Sony FE in a heartbeat.
