The latest lens patents from Canon, Pentax and Sony

The most interesting patent applications this week come from Canon: 6.7mm f/1.4, 3.6mm f/1.2 and 12mm f/1.2 lenses. Canon also filed patents for a 24-70mm f/2.8 IS and 24-80mm f/2.8 IS lenses (full frame).

This “Pentax Open Day” scheduled in the UK on October 9th is most likely for the new K-3 DSLR camera

SRS Microsystems has a banner on their website for “UK first at SRS Pentax Open Day” on October 9th. The banner features a silhouette of a Pentax DSLR camera (most likely the K-3). This event is probably scheduled for the upcoming Pentax K-3 camera that is rumored to be announced on October 8th.

First picture of the new Pentax K-3 DSLR camera

Digicame-info just published the first image of the upcoming Pentax K-3 DSLR camera. From the picture it appears that the K-3 will be an APS-C based camera (see rumored specifications). A dpreview member also mentioned few other new features in the K-3:

Pentax K-3 rumored to be announced on October 8

A new Pentax K-3 DSLR camera is rumored to be announced on October 8th in Japan (Monday evening, October 7th in North America). I am still not sure if the previously leaked specifications are correct. Coincidently, Nikon is also expected to announce their new D610 camera on the same date.
