Sony announced the previously rumored A5000 – the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable-lens digital Wi-Fi camera. Sony already eliminated the NEX brand and future models will be called Alpha. The price is $598 and the cameras is currently available for pre-order at Amazon and B&H. The Taiwanese NCC government agency (National Communications Commission) has a registration for a new Sony ILCE-5000 (a5000) camera. The official announcement will most likely be during the CES show in early January (Las Vegas) or during the CP+ show in Japan in early February.

The Sony a7 full frame mirrorless camera is currently shipping in the US and is currently in stock at B&H. The a7r version (no AA filter) is in stock in Europe (Fotohanskeuzekamp) and is expected to start shipping in the US on December 1st. The new Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS E-mount lens is also in stock.
