Sony to announce new Cybershot cameras on Monday

On Monday (January 30th, 2012) Sony will announce several new Cybershot point and shoot cameras.Some of the models already leaked few weeks ago on a Belgium online store. The new models will be mainly entry-level cameras, I don’t expect anything else interesting.

Sony develops next-generation back-illuminated CMOS sensor with RGBW coding and HDR movie function, Canon files a patent for a large BSI sensor

Today Sony announced their next generation back-illuminated CMOS sensor with “RGBW Coding” that will enabling clear shooting in low light conditions: The new sensor features also a new HDR Movie function: Canon recently also filed a patent (2012-15275) for a large size back-illuminated CMOS sensor.

After the a33, now also the Sony a55 camera ($799.99) is no longer in production according to DCWatch. The Sony a33 and a55 translucent DSLR cameras were announced back in September of 2010.
