Here are some Sony rumors from Japan: new DSC-HX95/DSC-HX99 compact camera to be announced this week

A quick update on my post from yesterday about the lack of Sony rumors – Nokishita now reports that Sony will announce a new DSC-HX95 / DSC-HX99 compact camera on Sunday. The new model should be a replacement for the current Sony HX90 (pictured above). Here are the basic specs:

Sony claims they are now #1 in full frame camera sales in the US for the past 6 months

It is not a surprise to me that a week before Nikon announces their new full-frame mirrorless camera, Sony decided to publish a press release that they are now #1 in full-frame cameras with interchangeable lens sales (in both dollars and units) and that’s only for the US market for the past 6 months:

2018 Canon, Nikon and Sony market share (latest Nikkei, BCN and CIPA reports)

Availability update on the latest cameras and lenses

The Sony RX100 VI camera is now shipping in the US. Leica M10 Zagato limited edition camera is now shipping in Asia. The Blackmagic 4K Pocket Cinema camera will be released in September. The Sigma 14mm and 135mm lenses for SonyE-mount will be available on July 6th. The Nissin MG10 2.4GHz wireless TTL strobe is now shipping.
