Kinoshita Kogaku Kenkyujyo, a Japanese optical laboratory that designs lenses for various purposes, announced the Kinoshita Kistar 55mm f/1.2 lens – a modern interpretation of the famous Tomioka Kogaku Auto Tominon 55mm f/1.2 from the ’70s. The new lens is meant to be used on mirrorless cameras with the appropriate adapter. Here are the lens specifications:

  • minimum focusing distance: 50cm
  • 8-blade iris
  • filter thread diameter: 55mm
  • single-layer coating
  • 64.5mm (max. diameter) × 56mm (length)

  • New Canon EOS M mirrorless camera is rumored for October
  • Two new lenses: EF-S mount version of the 22mm f/2 STM and a new EF 85mm f/1.8 IS
  • Canon is working on a new EF 70-200mm L lens
  • The Powershot G16 and S120 compact cameras are also rumored to be replaced in October

Oh, and Canon is not acquiring Sigma and there were never talks about such acquisition. There is also no color top LCD screen coming to Canon DSLR cameras – just some of the latest bogus rumors reported on the Web. How do I know? I received the exact same rumors for Nikon…
