New Ricoh Theta S camera to be announced on September 3rd

Panasonic V-LOG profile for GH4 announced

Today Panasonic announced the previously rumored V-LOG profile as a paid firmware update for the GH4 camera. The price is $99 and will be available in mid-September.Panasonic UK also mentioned also the new Lumix DMC-GH4R camera labeled as “an advanced version of the GH4“. Here is a description of the V-LOG profile upgrade process:

LUMIX GH4 function enhancement for film production/professional videographers
Increases dynamic range from 10 stops to 12 stops
Makes color grading easier with improved compatibility between LUMIX GH4 and Panasonic Varicam
V-Log / V-Log L were developed to feature similar characteristic to Cineon

In response to the demand from the film production market, log video recording (V-Log L) is now available for the LUMIX GH4, and offers exceptional flexibility as well as wider dynamic range for color grading in post-production process. V-Log / V-Log L were developed to feature similar characteristics to Cineon, which is a characteristic curve for film digitalization. Taking full advantage of Four Thirds sensor, V-Log L boasts a log characteristic with 12 stops. Both V-Log and V-Log L have the same characteristic curve, and LUT (Look Up Table) can be utilized

New Yongnuo YN622C II wireless TTL flash trigger

Yongnuo released a new YN622C II wireless TTL flash trigger. The new version has a micro-USB port for firmware updates, a sliding hot-shoe lock and a switch to toggle between 622 (TTL) and 560-TX (manual) compatibility modes. The new version is already available on eBay for $76.

Digicame-info reports about a new Panasonic GH4R camera with V-LOG profile. There have been rumors that V-LOG will be released as a firmware update to the existing GH4 version, but it seems that Panasonic has decided to introduce a new model with that feature. The Sony A7R II is now the best tested camera at DxOMark
