    Amazon.de stopped selling Pentax K-5 cameras

    Amazon.de has stopped selling Pentax K-5 cameras, probably because of a high return rate from customers due to the K-5 sensor issue. Third parties are still selling Pentax K-5 cameras on Amazon.de.

    Canon rumors: US price increase plus new compact cameras for CES 2011

    The rumor is that Canon will have a price increase in the US on February 1st, 2011 due to the weak US dollar. Canon will also be discontinuing all current A series point and shoot cameras on January 5th, 2011 (expect new p&s camera announcements during CES 2011). The SD1300, SD1400, SD3500, sd4000 models will be discontinued on February 7th, 2011 and will also be replaced.

    The first RED Epic camera got stolen, $100,000 reward announced

    It was just 10 days ago when the first RED Epic-M camera got shipped and now it’s stolen. The above is an actual picture of the stolen camera. The founder of RED Jim Jannard announced a $100,000 reward for the safe return of the camera and conviction of the thieves:

    “While it is not usually our position to offer rewards for our customers stolen property, this one is an exception. EPIC #00006 is truly a historic camera. It is the very 1st EPIC shipped to one of our customers and the way it was taken irritates me no end.

    We are now offering $100,000 for the safe return of EPIC #00006 and the rest of the system including the media with Mark’s files… and the arrest and conviction of those that broke into Mark’s chalet in France. We will ONLY pay this amount if there is an arrest and conviction of the parties as we are not interested to be ransomed by thieves.

    Olympus XZ-1 compact camera with a fast f/1.8 Zuiko zoom lens

    Judging to this picture, the new the Olympus XZ-1 compact camera will have a 6-24mm Zuiko zoom lens (28-112mm equivalent) with f/1.8-2.5 aperture range. This model will give some serious competition to the Panasonic LX5 and Samsung TL500. The camera will have HD video, 10MP sensor, 3in. OLED display.
