Similar to the Pentax k-7 Silver, there will be a new Pentax K-5 Silver DSLR that will be announced next month (February 2011).
In addition, there will be a new point and shoot camera Pentax RZ-18 with 3″ swivel LCD, 14MP sensor, 18X optical zoom (28-504mm) and a price tag of $300. The camera is expected to be very small in size.
The mirrorless camera from Pentax will be called NC-1. Pentax is expected to release two different EVIL cameras and I am not sure which one will be announced first. The RZ-18 and the NC-1 may be announced at a later date (not together with the Pentax k-5 Silver).
Similar to last year, Ricoh will announce a new CX5 compact camera in February. The only change from the current CX4 model is that the Ricoh CX5 will have a HDMI slot, which means that the basic specs should remain the same:
In addition to the specs and pictures of the upcoming Sony HX9V camera, this website seems to have a bunch of additional information on the camera. including some new images:
Canon filed a patent in Japan for a new 16-35mm f/2-2.8 lens:
The design is very similar to the current EF 16-35mm f/2.8L lens:
In the past few weeks the twitter feed of the The Fuji Guys has provided a lot of details on the Fuji x100 camera. Here is a compilation of their X100 related tweets (some of the information may already be publicly available):
In a recent interview, Sony said that they can change the world of DSLRs and that they are still committed to full frame DSLR cameras:
“When we announce a full-frame camera we want it to be a big step forward – another technological development might be needed so I say to people: Please stay tuned.”
In another interview at CES, Sony’s representative also set high expectations for the A700 successor:
“We’ve been acutely aware of the concern for the arrival of the A700 successor – actually, quite acutely aware, and we’re sorry that it’s taken as long as it has — but we believe that when this successor arrives, everyone will realize that it was very valuable to first develop the technologies and the capabilities that will go into the model, and to save it for those.”
The Sony A700 replacement is expected to have translucent mirror, magnesium alloy body, new EVF, 24MP sensor and very high ISO capabilities. The camera will be released later this year, probably at CliQ. A prototype was already shown at CES:

“The SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC card’s write speed of up to 45 MB/sec delivers improved shot to shot performance of RAW images using continuous burst mode. The card also adheres to the new UHS Speed Class 1 video class rating, offering 10MB/sec* minimum sustained write speed capable of recording HD 1080p videos or even 3D content**. In addition, the card’s fast read speeds of up to 45 MB/sec let users avoid lengthy wait times when transferring content from the card to a computer.”
Here are the rumored specs on the two new Rebel models:
T3i/600D
T3/1100D
Both cameras are expected to be announced during the CP+ show in Japan (February 9-12).
UPDATE: Amazon is also now taking pre-orders.
The Fuji x100 US price of $1,199.00 is now confirmed by Adorama and I was just able to pre-order mine – this camera will be back ordered for months, if you are planning on buying one, Adorama is currently the only major retailer in the US that is taking pre-orders:
The Fuji x100 is expected to start shipping in March, 2011.
