Nikon at 2012 Photokina

For the 2012 Photokina show, Nikon is expected to introduce the full frame Nikon D600 DSLR camera and a new Nikkor 1 18.5mm f/1.8 mirrorless lens (50mm equivalent). The official announcement is expected on or around September 13th, 2012. Nikon already announced several compact cameras, including their first Android based Coolpix model. The Nikkor 800mm f/5.6 lens will also be on display at their Photokina booth.

Back in 2009 when I started PhotoRumors.com, my main goal was to support NikonRumor and LeicaRumors with additional news and rumors from other manufacturers. This was the reason I never reported any Nikon and Leica related topics on this blog - I assumed that everybody was already reading my other two websites. Moving forward to 2012: looking at the blog's statistics, I realized that PhotoRumors has grown and now has its own audience. I already received several emails from readers asking me why I don't cover Nikon and Leica products. Starting from today I am planning to report on all major Nikon and Leica related news on PhotoRumors. To better understand my audience, please vote on this poll:

Pentax K-3 is rumored to have 24MP APS-C sensor

The website zol.com.cn has a listing for a Pentax K-3 DLSR camera with a 24MP APS-C sensor. No other details/specs were provided. This Chinese website has a good track record and has correctly predicted specifications of other upcoming cameras in the past. Rumors about a full frame Pentax DSLR has been circulating for a while, but it seems that the camera will not be announced at Photokina.

Nikkei Net published an article about Panasonic taking part of the 2012 IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. Company's representatives said that Panasonic will release three new lenses in 2012. According to their previous lens roadmap, Panasonic was supposed to announce 4 new lenses in 2012. As of today, all of those lenses are already officially announced except the Lumix G X Vario 35-100mm f/2.8 ASPH Power O.I.S (pictured on the left):

Samyang 24mm f/3.5 tilt-shift lens

This is the first image of the upcoming Samyang 24mm f/3.5 tilt-shift lens courtesy of LensTip. Few months ago Samyang confirmed on Facebook that they will be releasing a new 24mm tilt-shift lens. No other information is available at that point, but my guess is that this lens will be officially announced at the 2012 Photokina show in 3 weeks.
