The Canon EOS R3 is not the flagship camera, the R3 sensor may not be produced by Canon

According to a recent interview with Canon executives, the upcoming Canon EOS R3 camera is apparently not the EOS R flagship... it seems that Canon is planning to release another Canon EOS R model.

Canon also confirmed that they will not share the RF mount with other manufacturers.

This time for real: the Sony A-mount is dead

The Sony A-mount has been dead for a while even though back in 2017 Sony assured us that they will continue to develop A-mount cameras and lenses. A Dpreview forum member noticed a week ago that all Sony A-mount cameras are quietly removed from Sony's website and from B&H Photo. Most A-mount lenses are also out of stock.

New leaks and rumors for the Leica VARIO-ELMARIT SL 24–70mm f/2.8 ASPH lens for L-mount

Here the rumored details and the first leaked pictures of the Leica VARIO-ELMARIT SL 24–70mm f/2.8 ASPH lens for L-mount (via LeicaRumors):

  • The Leica VARIO-ELMARIT-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 ASPH lens will be a part of a new "economy line" from Leica (not sure for the exact name of the new product line)
  • The official announcement should be in May
  • The VARIO-ELMARIT-SL 24–70mm f/2.8 ASPH lens will be offered together with the Leica SL2s camera as a set.
  • The lens will be priced just slightly higher than the Panasonic Lumix S PRO 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for L-mount (still under €3,000/$3,000?)
  • The lens will not have an all-metal body like other Leica SL lenses
  • The optics of the lens are rumored to be based on the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art lens, on the outside, the lens will look more like the Panasonic Lumix S PRO 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for L-mount
  • The lens will be announced on May 6th
  • The price of the Leica SL2s with the Leica VARIO-ELMARIT-SL 24–70mm f/2.8 ASPH lens will be just below €6,500 (around $7,800 - US prices are usually lower).
