Oprema Jena Biotar 75/1.5 lens launched on Kickstarter




The Oprema Jena Biotar 75/1.5 lens is now officially announced and is listed for funding on Kickstarter. The lens will be available in Canon, Nikon, Sony-E, Leica-M (rangefinder coupling supported), FujiX and M42 mounts.

Update – the project has been delayed:

The first components did arrive. Unfortunately, we found that some components did not meet our quality requirements especially in regard to the tight specifications for lenses and some high precision mechanical components. These have to be reworked in the coming weeks. It is hard to say to what extent this will influence delivery times but it will certainly lead to a delay in comparison to the promised date. As soon as we can estimate better we will let you know. Probably we have a new timetable until the end of this month which we will share.

Oprema Jena announces their plans for a new Biotar 75 f/1.5 lens


The previously rumored new Biotar 75 f/1.5 lens (first reported on LeicaRumors) is now officially announced and as already reported, it will be sold under the Meyer Optik Goerlitz Oprema Jena brand (net SE is behind the Oprema Jena and Meyer Optik brands). The lens funding will start soon on Kickstarter.

The Biotar 1.5/75 lens is very sharp in the center and is known for its 3D-like effect – see this first sample pictures from the new lens:


Oprema Jena is planning to bring back also the Biotar 58 and Flektogon lenses.
