Canon is preparing to move 50% of their production back to Japan by 2015: “Japanese imaging and optical equipment maker Canon plans to return 50% of its production on-shore by the year 2015. Chairman and CEO Fujio Mitarai cited the weak yen and expenses of manufacturing overseas as the main reasons for moving back production to Japan.”

Sony is going to announce a new accessory SPA-TA1 for the QX10 and QX100 lens modules that will allow the camera to be used with tablets as well. The official announcement should be in April. The new Samsung NX30 mirrorless camera will start shipping on February 18th, 2014: The Samsung NX 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Power Zoom ED OIS will be released on April 15th. Samsung NX 16-50mm f/2 – 2.8 S ED OIS is scheduled for March 18th.
