Panasonic is preparing to announce a new Lumix G Vario 45-150mm f/4-5.6 HD OIS lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. My guess is that this lens will be a cheaper replacement of the current 45-200mm f/4-5.6 ($245). Via Photoprice

Panasonic ends up as the major investor in Olympus

After several months of negotiations, Panasonic ended up investing a large chunk of money in Olympus according to Reuters: “Panasonic Corp is making final arrangements to provide up to 50 billion yen ($635 million) in capital to Olympus Corp in a move that will make Panasonic the top shareholder in the company.”

Panasonic is cutting the workforce of its Osaka head office by between 3,000 and 4,000 workers. Olympus to cut 2,500 jobs, consolidate overseas plants, sell 10 percent stake to Sony or Panasonic. The new Panasonic Lumix G Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 lens is listed on Amazon for $1,299.99. This is a very high price tag, considering that the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 lens costs “only” $799.

Panasonic announced their new Lumix G Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 lens for Micro Four Thirds. This lens was initially displayed during CES 2012. Shipping will start in August.
