When I initially reported the rumor about a new digital recording binoculars from Sony, I did not believe that such product exists, but today Sony announced the DEV-3 and DEV-5: a new gadget that combines a digital camera, camcorder and binoculars. A dpreview forum member posted pictures of the three upcoming Sony NEX lenses: 50mm f/1.8, 24mm f/1.8 and 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3. Those lenses were shown as prototypes before and were listed on Sony NEX roadmap for 2011. Announcement date is August 24th (Nikon will also have a major press event on that date).
The latest update: Sony NEX 7 mirrorless camera will cost around $1000 and is expected to start shipping in November 2011.
