Ricoh officially announced the previously rumored HD PENTAX-D FA 24-70mm f/2.8ED SDM WR lens. The US price of the lens is $1,299.95 (available for pre-order at B&H and Adorama). As some readers already noticed, the new Pentax lens is completely identical to this Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di USD lens and I don’t think this is a coincidence – take a look at this GIF file overlaying both lenses:

An update on my earlier post on the upcoming Pentax announcement (most likely to take place this Friday):
New Pentax lenses are rumored to be announced this Friday – most likely full frame lenses for the upcoming DSLR camera and the a 24-70mm f/2.8 is a possibility. This rumor was posted on multiple forums and I am not sure about the reliability of the source.

Grey market Sony Alpha a7s cameras are now available for $1,699 on eBay. This is a new low price for that model – it was $100 more the last time I reported it. The original a7s price is $2,498, refurbished models are now $1,998.
