Sigma 135mm f/1.8 Art lens rumors are back again

It appears that the rumors about a new Sigma 135mm f/1.8 Art lens are back again (they have been going on since 2013). A new fast 135mm prime would make sense as this focal length will complete the current line of Sigma Art lenses:


The other rumored Sigma Art lens is a new 24-70mm f/2.8 that could be announced for the CP+ show later this month.

As CanonRumors already suggested, if there will also be a third new Sigma 14mm f/1.8 Art lens, it will most likely be APS-C based, a full frame 14mm f/1.8 is just going to be too big - the Zeiss 15mm f/2.8 lens for example is almost 2 lb (over 800 g):

→ Really Right Stuff released a new BX1D L-plate for the Hasselblad X1D camera (still out of stock).


→ Deal of the day: the Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R lens is now on sale $349 at Amazon only ($250 or 42% off), the same lens is listed for $599 at B&H. Maybe Fuji is clearing their inventory and will refresh this lens in the future.

The new Fujifilm Professional Services rumored to be coming to the US as well

CIPA published their 2016 report and 2017 outlook

CIPA published their 2016 report and 2017 outlook for camera and lens shipments (see the list of participating companies):

  • Total shipments decline 31.7% year on year; interchangeable lens camera shipments as percent of total shipments grow to 48%
  • Shipments of interchangeable lens cameras contract 11.1% year on year
  • Shipments of interchangeable lenses shrink 11.4%
  • Total shipments (the cumulative total of shipments from January to December) of digital cameras in 2017 are projected to be 21.70 million units, a year-on-year decline of 10.3%.
