Today is CES press day (Fuji, Canon, Sony)

Today is press day at CES 2011. Many new products will be announced in the next few hours. On the camera site so far there are no big surprises from what was already reported:

  • Fuji announced eleven new point and shoot models. You can read more about the different Fuji cameras and their new EXR-CMOS BSI sensor here. Full press releases at Photographybay.

All will have more updates throughout the day as new announcements are coming in.

Pentax released new firmware for K-5, K-r and 645D

Pentax just released new firmware updates not only for the K-5, but also for the K-r (ver. 1.01) and 645D (ver. 1.01) cameras.

The firmware can be downloaded from network.pentax.eu.

Fuji X100 design story

Pentax K-5 firmware v1.02 is unofficially available

The firmware is available on this site: https://network.pentax.eu. You have to be a registered user in order to download the software. Since there are no release notes, it is unclear what exactly is fixed with this firmware update (maybe they fixed the sensor issue, that made Amazon.de halt the selling of the K-5).

The biggest leak ever (Casio Tryx)

Casio decided to show their new and unannounced camera on huge billboards in Las Vegas few days before CES:

According to Engadget the new Casio camera is called TRYX:

“Casio TRYX imager sports two hinges for the sake of versatility: one for the frame that doubles as a handle or a stand, and one for swiveling the display — presumably a touchscreen since there are just a couple of buttons on the body.”

Fuji announcements at CES 2011

Fuji will announce several new EXR cameras, including a HS-10 replacement with a new 16 MP EXR BSI CMOS sensor. The camera will have the same lens and faster write speeds. There will also be two new cameras to replace the F300 EXR (also with the 16 MP EXR BSI CMOS sensor). They will have RAW and Jpeg capability. One will also have GPS technology. There is a whole range of other compacts and three new ‘S series’ cameras as well. No S200 EXR replacement will be announced for CES. An EXR based twin sensor 3D camera is also rumored, but for later in the year.
