Olympus EP-2: released before the end of the year, with a viewfinder

Chasseur d’Images magazine wrote in its latest issue (#316) that an Olympus spokesman revealed that Olympus EP-2 was in the works and was going to be released before the end of the year and it will have a viewfinder. The same issue also covered the full frame Leica M9 and the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj.

Rumor: Panasonic LX3 discontinued

I received a rumor that the current Panasonic LX3 model is being discontinued. This is hard for me to believe, since this camera is a very good seller and is hard to get, but maybe a new model is in the making.

Samsung NX10 lenses rumor

Some details surfaced about the three lenses for the Samsung NX10 that were shown on that misterious trade show in Korea:

  • Standard Zoom: 18-55mm
  • Telephoto Zoom: 50-200mm
  • Prime Lens (Pancake): either 30mm f2.0 or 35mm f2.0

According to the source, the Samsung NX10 camera is expected to have AF performance similar to an entry level DSLR. The new expected release date is September – possibly on f the IFA show in Berlin (September 4-9, 2009).

Ricoh GR Digital III: now a reality

The Ricoh GR Digital III rumors were true (still no word on Ricoh’s official site):

  • New 10-million-pixel CCD imaging sensor
  • External TTL flash unit (GF-1) expected
  • 21mm wide conversion lens (GW-2) also expected
  • 5fps
  • Improved macro image quality (closest focusing is 1cm)
  • 3in LCD screen with a resolution of 920,000 dots

Panasonic’s new Micro Four Thirds camera to be released in September

“In an interview with Photobusiness.fr, a French online magazine, Luc Saint Elie (manager of new technologies at Panasonic France) hints that the next Panasonic MicroFourThirds cameras could be unveiled in September. He adds that the ‘platform’ could allow manufacturers to come up with radical design such as a spherical camera.”

Ricoh GR Digital III
