Interview with Panasonic

This interview is 2 weeks old and it was conducted by unwire.hk with Panasonic’s Development Planning Staff Officer – Mr. Inoue. Here are some quotes (computer translated):

Q: What will be the launch of the lens?

A: lens, we will soon be introduced fish-eye, more powerful variety of long focal length lens and fixed focus lens. In particular, will focus lens, the market response to that many users have asked for more focal length wide aperture fixed focal lens, we have heard the needs of customers, and actively introduce more models of fixed focus lens.

Q: There will be rumors GF1 new version of the higher pixel EVF, it is true?

A: Not released because GF1 their limited hardware specifications, there will be no introduction of new EVF

Mr. Inoue also mentioned that Panasonic we will be adding more professional-grade HD video feature inside their m4/3 models.

Samsung NX 5 is out

The long rumored Samung NX 5 is already out. Only limited details are available at that point:

  • 14.6MP APS-C CMOS sensor
  • 3-inch TFT LCD (compared to NX10’s same-sized AMOLED screen).
  • will be available in black from this month at a price of 699 euros.

New Panasonic FX75 & Lumix 8mm f/3.5 G lens

Update: the new 8mm fisheye lens is available for pre-order on Amazon.

As previously reported, today Panasonic announced a new Lumix 8mm f/3.5 fisheye G lens and a new point and shoot camera Lumix FX75 (I got a tip in advance and this post was online for a short period of time last week, but then I was politely asked to remove it until the day of the actual announcement):

The Panasonic FX75 will have 14MP and a Leica 24mm ultra-wide-angle f/2.2 Summicron lens with 5x optical zoom. The camera will support HD video in AVCHD Lite format. No RAW file format.

Some Tokina rumors

In addition to the rumored update of the 80-400mm with VR lens, Tokina will also introduce a new 16-28 f/2.8 full frame lens this Fall (probably around Photokina). Tokina currently makes the most compact 80-400 lens (Tokina 80-400/4.5-5.6 AT-X 840 D) in the market and most of their lenses are made in Japan.
