Fuji Four Thirds camera?

Mr. Akira Watanabe from Olympus answers questions from journalists:

Q: On the possible involvement of Fujifilm, which has signed the launch of System 4 / 3, but has nothing concrete in terms of equipment, and its sensor division, which produces SuperCDD more innovative than sensors fitted Panasonic Olympus equipment.

A: Olympus can not say anything about its commitments with its official or unofficial subject to confidentiality agreement that it is impossible to break.

Did Mr. Watanabe just confirmed that Fuji has a 4/3 camera in development and a confidentiality agreement with Olympus? (maybe just a lousy Google translation?)

“Sony: Video recording will be a necessity in dSLRs”

“Katsumoto (senior general manager of the AMC Division in Sony’s Digital Imaging Business group) told CNET Asia the company’s Handycam camcorders have long established themselves with consumers. If the firm should decide to make a dSLR with movie capture feature, it will want to make this as good as its Handycam.”

Two full frame Sony DSLRs this summer

I got a tip about two new full frame Sony DSLRs coming out this August:  one will be pro, above the current  a900 model and another one that is suppose to be very cheap,  under $1000. Full frame for under $1000? I don’t know…  I am expecting more info on this rumor.

On the same topic, few weeks ago somebody on dpreview listed Sony’s DSLR future release schedule (note that this is also an unconfirmed rumor):

  • 130 with HD video, only LCD, no EVF 14 MP 2010
  • 260 with HD video 14 MP 2010
  • 360 with HD video 14 MP 2010
  • 400 with HD video 18 MP 2010
  • 500 with HD video 14 MP 2009
  • 550 with HD video 18 MP 2009
  • 730 with HD video 18 MP 2010
  • 800 with HD video 24 MP 2010
  • 930 with HD video 30 MP 2011
  • 1000 with HD video 30 MP – will combine video and photo function as has never been done before – revolutionary camera 2011

The last leak on Sony’s website was the Sony a500 and a550 DSLR cameras and I think we will definitely see those very soon.

Fuji: no new DSLR in 2009

“Fuji is not manufacturing a pro camera for this year,” said Diane Rainey, Group Manager for Fujifilm.

Does this mean that they will be one coming out next year? Fuji S6 PRo?

Fuji S6 Pro?

Olympus confirmed: pro Pen camera in the future

BJP did an interview with Akira Watanabe and Miquel Angel Garcia from Olympus – they have big plans for the future of 4/3 format:

“Of course, Olympus is looking to attract pro shooters, Garcia says, and one way to do that is with a viewfinder and integrated flash, which the E-P1 lacks. ‘Our main focus with this first model has been to make a compact camera to attract the users from the compact market,’ he says. However, professional photographers wishing for a viewfinder will see their wishes granted, according to Watanabe. ‘We are now preparing for future products to incorporate a electronic viewfinder,’ as well as a flash, he says.”

Pentax K7 final version will have a modified sensor

“Amateur Photographer (AP) has delayed its review of the Pentax K7 digital SLR after learning that the final version will include a modified imaging sensor.”

There must be a reason for this last moment modification and every pre-production Pentax K7 review should be “voided” at that point. I cannot recall another company making such a drastic change in the last moment.
