The latest patents from Ricoh, Canon and Sony

Ricoh filed a patent application (2013-61573) for a 4.6-18mm f/1.8-2.8 lens (21-84mm equivalent) designed for a 1/1.7″ size sensor. Canon filed a patent (2013-64858) for 400mm f/4 DOE lens which could replace their current version.

Sony patents full frame mirrorless lenses designed for curved sensor

Sony filed a patent application in Japan (2013-61476) for a full frame 35mm f/1.8 mirrorless lens designed for curved sensors. The patent contains also calculations for 35mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2.2 and 30mm f/2.0 lenses, all designed for a curved sensor. Sony shows 4K prototype cameras at the 2013 NAB show

At the 2013 NAB show Sony showed for the first time two 4k prototype cameras. On of the prototypes has a DSLR-like design similar to the Canon EOS-1DC. No technical specifications are available at that point. More images:

The latest patents from Sony, Canon, Olympus and Konica Minolta

Sony filed a patent 2013-54164 for 16-135mm f/3.5-5.6 and 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 APS-C lenses. Sony also patented (2013-50630) a half mirror that will not “black out” during exposure. Canon filed a patent (2013-57802) for a 50mm f/1.4 lens. The patent contains also calculations for a 50mm f/1.2 lens.

The latest lens patents from Canon, Tamron, Sony and Olympus

Canon filed more patents (2013-47780 and 2013-37339) for a 14mm f/2.8 lens (see previous patent here). Tamron’s patent 2013-44964 is for a 10-18mm f/4 lens for APS-C cameras. Two different version were described – with and without image stabilization.
