- This 3.2 gigapixel camera has 189 image sensors.
- The new Triggertrap app offers several interesting ways to trigger a camera by using the iPhone sensors.
- New and improved instant Polaroid film made by former employees.
Here are the first set of specs for the rumored Canon mirrorless camera:
- Two cameras
- G1 X sensor size
- APS-C a possibility in one camera
- 14 & 24 megapixels
- EF compatibility, but not EF mount
- EVF on one camera
- 3-5 lenses announced at launch
If those specs turn out to be true, Canon’s solution will be just another mirrorless camera – similar to what other manufacturers have been producing for years (meaning no full frame sensor).

The sensor inside the Pentax 645D camera ($9,995) was initially produced by Kodak, but in 2011 they sold the Image Sensor Solutions (ISS) business to Platinum Equity. The rumor is that those medium format sensors are not longer in production and Pentax is working on a second generation of the 645D camera. It seems that Leica is having similar issues and will be using a new sensor from an European semiconductor manufacturer in their upcoming S3 camera.
When the Pentax Q was announced a year ago, the price for a kit with a lens was set at $800 which was pretty high considering the camera’s specs. After the recent Pentax lens price increase, the price of the smallest mirrorless camera dropped by almost 40% to $499. The two lens kit now sells for $750.
Maybe Ricoh-Pentax will announce a new version during Photokina? Rumors about a new cheap mirrorless camera are already floating around.
There is another “World’s First…” teaser from Olympus. After watching the video, I am now convinced that this new campaign is for their rugged Olympus TG-1 iHS camera that leaked on BestBuy’s website last week:
