Sony EVIL update (NEX3 & NEX5)

First, some Sony EVIL price rumors from Korea:

  • Sony NEX3+lens for 600,000 KRW (=US$ 536)
  • Sony NEX5+lens for  700,000 KRW (=US$ 625)

The lens could be the 18-55mm or the 16mm lens. I expect prices in the US to be lower.

Pentax 645D coming to Europe for 7.000 Euros

There were already some rumors that the Pentax 645D will be available in Poland and now Quesabesde seems to have a confirmation that the medium format camera will indeed come to Europe after the summer with a price tag of 7.000 Euros.

Samsung NX5 imminent

Today is Samsung day. If you go to the same website from the previous post (Samsungimaging) and you sign up to become a member, there is a camera drop down selection box and one of the options is a Samsung NX 5:

Rumors about a Samsung NX5 camera have been circulating for a while. Expected Samsung NX5 specs can be found here. The camera was already listed in some online stores in Europe.

Samsung NX10 limited edition – pretty in white

Canon still wondering about mirrorless cameras

“Canon Camera Business Unit, Minister Niihori Kenichi, recently got asked about the possibility of Canon to launch mirrorless camera system following the success of micro four third system in Japan market. He said that Canon has no plan yet to develop a new system and still discussing whether this mirrorless system is just a hype / temporary phenomenon or the real thing.” (Fengniao via Radiantlite)

Just a reminder what an unnamed Canon officer said for the the Japanese trade journal Pen News Weekly a month ago:

“Canon is proceeding with the development of a mirror-less interchangeable lens camera to compete against models launched by Panasonic, Olympus and Samsung.”

Canon (and Nikon) cannot afford not to take part of the EVIL market share.
