Additional information and pictures of the upcoming five Laowa lenses from Venus Optics

A quick update on my previous post – I received some updates and additional information on the upcoming Laowa lenses from Venus Optics:

  • Laowa 10-18 f/3.5-4.5 full frame manual focus lens for Sony FE (pictured above) – the widest FE zoom full frame lens, this lens is designed for travel photography and it will be extremely compact and small
  • Laowa GF 17mm f/4 for Fuji GFX (the widest native GFX lens available)
  • Laowa 4mm f/2.8 fisheye MFT lens (210 degrees sphere shape fisheye)
  • Laowa 25-100mm f/2.8 mirrorless professional cinema lens (Super 35 sensor) for Sony E-mount with no focus breathing (lens not in the above teaser)
  • Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2:1 macro DSLR lens for Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Sony mounts – after the Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro ($399) this is the second 2:1 lens in Laowa’s lineup with infinity focus and no chromatic aberration. The lens is designed to be a direct competitor to the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. Here is the first picture of the lens:

Several new Laowa lenses to be announced at the Beijing P&E show next month

Venus Optics will have several major announcements at the Beijing P&E show that starts on May 3rd. The following new Laowa lenses are rumored/expected:

  • Laowa 10-18 f/3.5-4.5 full frame manual focus lens for Sony FE
  • Laowa GF 17mm f/4 for Fuji GFX
  • Laowa 2x tele macro for DSLR cameras
  • Laowa fisheye lens wider than 180° (not 100% sure about this lens)
  • Laowa 25-100mm f/2.8 full frame mirrorless lens (also not 100% sure about this lens)

The latest Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro lens is delayed until the end of May.

Today Photokina issued a new press release describing “high exhibitor demand” and confirmed that Arri, Canon, Cewe, DJI, Epson, Fujifilm, Kodak Alaris, Leica, Manfrotto, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Profoto, Sigma, Sony, Tamron and Zeiss have already secured their stands at the coming event.
