Pentax X-5: 16MP ultra zoom compact camera

I received those images of the not yet announced Pentax X-5 camera. Some specs were already published on photoprice.ca: the X-5 will not be a DSLR but a high-end point and shoot camera with 16MP and 26x ultra-zoom. Pictures of the same camera in black:

Canon announcement: PowerShot SX500 IS and SX160 IS compact cameras

Canon announced two new compact cameras: PowerShot SX160 IS ($229) and PowerShot SX500 IS ($329). Canon also celebrates the production of 80 Million EF lenses.

Sony introduces a new Exmor RS sensor

Sony announced the development of a new Exmor RS sensor: The “Exmor RS” is a CMOS image sensor that adopts a unique ‘stacked structure.’ This structure layers the pixel section, containing formations of back-illuminated pixels over the chip affixed with mounted circuits for signal processing, in place of conventional supporting substrates used for back-illuminated CMOS image sensors.
