New nuts from Olympus coming soon

Olympus sent this “teaser” to Techradar. I think the two nuts represent the toughness of the already leaked new rugged Olympus TG-1 iHS camera that should be announced soon. I cannot think of any other associations between nuts and cameras, can you?

Detailed specs for the Sony a37 and NEX-F3 cameras

 

Listed bellow are the detailed specs of the already leaked Sony a37 and NEX-F3 cameras. The official announcement will be on May 17, 2012 and will include a new 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 SAM lens priced at around $500. Sony is also planning to announce a new 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS lens this summer.

  • Mamiya Leaf announced new medium format digital camera back platform – the Leaf Credo. Three different models are available: Leaf Credo 80, Credo 60, and Credo 40 with 80MP, 60MP and 40MP respectively.

Canon promisses new cameras with image quality that approaches DSLRs

Canon reported slightly higher profits for Q1 of 2012. On the earnings conference call the CFO of the company Toshizo Tanaka promised new cameras that will be approaching the image quality of current DSLR models:

“To achieve this, we will further differentiate and enhance our lineup by launching new cameras offering the image qualities that approaches SLR cameras; furthering the improvement in design and qualities, and by incorporating features such as network, connectivity capabilities.”

New Olympus TG-1 iHS Tough camera leaks on BestBuy website

For a short period of time, BestBuy had a listing for a new rugged Olympus TG-1 iHS Tough camera on their website. The entry is now removed, but you can still see the cached version of the page.

The camera has 12MP 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor, 3″ OLED display, 4x optical zoom with f/2 on the wide end. Full features and specs of the new TG-1 waterproof camera after the jump:

First picture of the upcoming Sony NEX-F3 mirrorless camera

This is the first picture of the upcoming Sony NEX-F3 mirrorless camera. As I reported earlier, some of the NEX-C3 kits are already discontinued and will probably be replaced with the NEX-F3 in the next few weeks. According to the source of the image, one of the new features is “Peaking Level” for better manual focusing.

“Photographer’s Guide to the Fujifilm X10” book giveaway

It seems that Fujifilm has fixed the “sensor blooming” issue in the X10 cameradpreview received a new X10 version that did not show any of the previously reported problems. Last month Fujifilm promised new sensors for current X10 owners. If you care about DxOMark scores, the Finepix X10 got one of the highest scores for point and shoot cameras.
