Rumor: iPhone 5 to use 8MP sensor from Sony

Sony’s CEO, Sir Howard Stringer mentioned in an interview with Walt Mossberg that Sony will be providing sensors to Apple for the next version of the iPhone:

“Stringer just said that their camera image sensor facility in Sendai was affected by the recent tsunami/quake.  In the next breath, he said something to the effect of getting image sensors to companies like Apple will be delayed.”

The rumor is that the iPhone 5 will have an 8 MP sensor developed by Sony.

The next generation of iPod Nano is rumored to have a rear facing camera.
