In an interview with Reuters Hoya’s CEO Hiroshi Suzuki said:
“I’m afraid it will need some sort of alliance with another company in the long term.”
Hoya owns Pentax, so indirectly this will be an alliance for Pentax. There is a whole discussion on this topic @ pentaxforums.com.
After the announcement of the ST1000, Samsung is trying to find a good use of the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi:
“Samsung has confirmed to Pocket-lint that it hopes to sign up Wi-Fi operators in the next 12 months to allow users of its wireless cameras access to public hotspots around the globe.”
Good idea, when will we see this in a DSLR?
The Samsung NX will be released at the beginning of 2010 and not in the last quarter of 2009 as previously expected.

This Sony α850 DSLR picture is from an European online store (I will not publish the store name with the hope to get more info). The price was listed as EUR 1999 (USD2 860):

Several rumors are circulating online that Samsung is testing a new 85mm/f1.4 lens. You can see some spy shots here. There is a also a dpreview thread that translates slrclub’s test shot of this lens.
According to the Danish magazine Zoom, Panasonic have scheduled a press conference for September 1st. Expected is a “New Lumix Camera”: the Panasonic GF-1 (the camera silhouette looks identical to the leak from last week):
Canon has also scheduled a press conference for the same day.
