New Olympus rebate program to start in the US next week

Olympus is expected to start a new instant rebate program in the US next week. You will be able to save up to $125 on various camera/kit combinations. The following cameras will be included in the rebate program:

  • Olympus E-5
  • Olympus E-P3
  • Olympus E-PL3
  • Olympus E-PM1

Panasonic and Samsung also interested in Olympus

Reuters reports that in addition to Sony and Fujifilm, Panasonic and Samsung have also “decided to propose capital ties with disgraced medical equipment maker Olympus Corp“. Both companies declined to comment on this report. Olympus will make a decision for their future strategic partner after a new management team is chosen on the shareholder meeting that will take place on April 20th, 2012

Lytro light field camera caught with a hidden Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip

When Lytro submitted their light field camera to the FCC for testing, it was discovered that inside there is a chip capable of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Maybe future versions of the camera will support wireless file transfer?

Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company re-organization

The newly established Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company will take control of the future design, development and sell of Ricoh digital cameras. Initially that unit was responsible only for the Pentax brand. Ricoh bought Pentax for $124.2 million back in July, 2011.
