GF5 leaked on Instagram by the Hong Kong model Angelababy
Digicame-info is reporting that the announcement of the Panasonic GF5 camera is expected on April 5th, 2012. Shipping will start on April 26th. The G5 model will be released later. Here again are the rumored GF5 specs:
Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 90mm f/3.5 SL II lens for DSLR cameras ($549) is now listed as discontinued on Cosina Japan website. I guess this lens did not sell that well because it was announced “just” two years ago. Curious to see if Voigtländer will announce a replacement at Photokina.
Hasselblad X-Pan film camera
I received a tip that Hasselblad will introduce a new family of digital cameras this year, probably at Photokina. One of the possibilities is a smaller DSLR type camera. The other rumor is for a digital X-Pan camera, which will use a customized sensor in order to provide the wide panorama format. The sensor will be smaller then the original film double frame (24mm x 65mm) and will probably have 1.5x crop factor. The price will be at the Leica M9 range ($6000-$7000).
In addition to the GF5, Panasonic is also preparing a new G5 camera as seen on this leaked picture. No announcement date or details are known at that point, but my guess is that we will see those cameras before the summer.

Tamron filed a patent in Japan for a new 70-200mm f/2.8 lens that will probably be an update of their current version. Tokina recently announced a new AT-X 70-200mm f/4 PRO IF FX lens and this is probably Tamron’s response.

Canon is the last hope for a full frame mirrorless camera, otherwise I think we have to wait few years until the next generation of mirrorless cameras. As of today, the only full frame mirrorless digital camera is the Leica M9.
