Fujifilm X-Pro1 now shipping in Japan

The Fuji X-Pro1 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera is now shipping in Japan, just as Fujifilm promised last month. The North America market has to wait for another month, but I have the feeling that the camera will start shipping before March 20th in the US.

Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN lens price announced

Sigma announced the price of their 30mm f/2.8 EX DN lens for mirrorless cameras – $280 (MSRP). Expect the street price to be lower – B&H is currently taking pre-orders for $199. The Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN lens was announced during CES and is available in E and m4/3 mounts. The price of the 19mm f/2.8 EX DN lens is not yet announced.

No, this is not an April 1st joke – in the US, Sony will increase the prices of some of their lenses with $20 to $700. This is probably to compensate fluctuation in the dollar/yen exchange rate. The absurd thing is that Sony is currently offering instant rebates on some of those lenses. If you are planning to buy some of the glass listed with a price increase, it will be a good idea to do it before April 1st.

What would Canon do? (5D Mark III)

The day Nikon announced their D800 monster, Canon came out with “only” three new lenses and some official samples from their top of the line EOS 1Dx camera. Nikon and Canon announcements are always scheduled few days/weeks apart and it seems that all the signs for a new 5D Mark III camera are here, including the mandatory book listing on Amazon with a release date of March 9th, 2012:

The rumored Canon 5D Mark III will have 22MP, 61 points AF, 6.9 fps and will probably be announced on February 28th, 2012. There is some talk that the 5D line may get split in two: 5D X and 5D Mark III.

Photographybay reported about a potential Canon Rebel T4i announcement in late February.

Lens roadmap for Pentax 645 and Q mounts

After the K-mount, Pentax released also the 645 mount roadmap that reveals a new wide (24-45mm), standard (45-90mm) and tele (90-200mm) zoom lenses to be announced in 2013 or later.

The Pentax Q mount roadmap shows plans for a new 80-300mm telephoto and 15-35mm wide zooms, a telephoto prime and a mount cap lens (pinhole lens):
