I just received some more details and samples of the SLR Magic Noktor 12mm f/1.6 lens for Micro Four Thirds:

  • 12mm wide angle
  • f/1.6 max aperture (best performance is at f/4)
  • ~2% distortion (optical distortion correction for natural perspective when taking photos of people)
  • 0.15m minimum focus distance
  • 12 step-less aperture blades for always round aperture opening like a cinema lens for better compatibility with GH2 and AF-100
  • Depth of field scale included
  • $499 MSRP
  • Shipping will start around the end of October 2011

SLR Magic is working also on a new 12-36×50 ED sporting scope for Micro Four Thirds. The stand alone SLR Magic 12-36×50 ED spotting scope should be released in October (price $250) and SLR Magic 12-35×50 ED sporting scope for Micro Four Thirds should be released in November (price: $400).

Sony promises fix to clicking sound when recording video with the NEX-5N

Fujinon lenses for Canon?

New rumors indicate that Fuji may announce a new line of Fujinon lenses for Canon EF mount in March, 2012. Now that’s a shocker. Fujifilm recently mentioned in an interview with Reuters that they may re-enter the interchangeable lens camera market with a product that is fully developed in-house, but my guess was that they are talking about a mirrorless camera and lenses.

Ricoh is working on a new mirrorless camera developed by Pentax

From the beginning of 2011, the rumors were that Pentax will announce two mirrorless cameras. As the months passed by, the chance of a second mirrorless system diminished, even though rumors continued to flow. My guess three weeks ago was that Ricoh’s purchase of Pentax did put the plans for second mirrorless camera on hold.
