New Samsung NX 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 compact zoom lens
Samsung will announce a new 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 (non-OIS) compact zoom lens for the NX series – this was already mentioned during PMA, but now we also have a picture:
Size: 51x59mm
Weight: 164gr
The exact date of announcement was given.

What to expect in April
- Businessinsider reports that Cisco is preparing to launch new Flip cameras.
- The new Olympus ED 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6 m4/3 lens should start shipping in April as well.

Latest sensor developments
InVisage Technologies created a sensor using quantum dots instead of silicon for phone cameras. According to the company, this would increase the sensor performance more than four times.

Just a month ago Dalsa announced a 196MP sensor which will be used in “UltraCam line of aerial photogrammetry cameras produced by Vexcel Imaging GmbH, a subsidiary of Microsoft. The new UltraCamXp and UltraCamXp Wide Angle use multiple Dalsa CCD image sensors to provide breathtakingly detailed imagery that feeds applications such as Microsoft Bing Maps”. 196MP not enough for you? Then check out this 570MP intergalactic camera.
Also a month ago, Samsung announced a 3MP CMOS sensor for camera phones, capable of recording 720p video (source). At the same time NEC announced an image processor for cameras phones that can handle Full HD (1080p) videos and 13MP photos (source).
How about that one: OmniVision has announced a new RAW-capable CMOS sensor for cellphones (source).

Samsung NX5 appears on a Swedish online store
The Swedish online retail site multitronic.se lists a mysterious Samsung NX5 model and the price appears to be lower then the current NX10 model (In 2010 Samsung is expected to release a new, cheaper version of the NX10 camera):
The latest from Polaroid, SanDisk and Eye-Fi
The Impossible Project had a press event yesterday and SanDisk had a new product countdown on their website.
Here are the announcements:
- The impossible Project announced Polaroid film that will be in stores on March 25th. Read all the details here.
- SanDisk announced a new 32GB MicroSDHC card. At the same time Eye-Fi released a new Pro X2 8GB card with RAW support.

Samsung NX-10 now in stock in the US
Samsung kept their promise for a March delivery and now the Samsung NX-10 camera is available in stock at Adorama and B&H:
Canon working on a mirrorless camera (EVIL)
This information was published in the Japanese trade journal Pen News Weekly quoting Photo Trade Express where reportedly an unnamed Canon officer said:
“Canon is proceeding with the development of a mirror-less interchangeable lens camera to compete against models launched by Panasonic, Olympus and Samsung.”
