Everything seems to be back to normal. First some catching up on today’s events: Olympus announced the black E-P2 kit and two lenses that leaked yesterday.
NikonRumors.com is now online. It may take several hours until the server changes propagation is complete and all ISP have updated their routers. If you cannot access NikonRumors.com directly, try http://173.45.162.91. I am not going to discuss again the details of why NR went down, I did that already on Twitter and Facebook.
NikonRumors now has a new dedicated server and a new host (NationalNet). There could be some interruptions in the next few days, until I fine-tune the site.
Coming up next: Nikon files patents for a 80-400mm f/3.5-5.6 lens and a back illuminated sensor.
The picture says it all: tomorrow, August 31st, Olympus will announce a new E-P2 kit with black 17mm f/2.8 lens and black external flash.
Two lenses are also expected: new M.Zuiko ED 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 and M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6.
Olympus will then continue on September 14th with a new E-5:
Pentax is expected to announce at least one new DSLR camera and at least one prime lens plus two compact cameras on September 9th, 2010. There could be an additional announcement during, or just before Photokina.
Pentax is expected to announce new K-5 and K-r models and potentially a new EVIL camera for Photokina this year.
The previously rumored Distagon T* 1,4/35 ZE/ZF.2 lens will be announced this Wednesday according to this post on Facebook:
NikonRumors is temporarily down. I am moving to a new hosting company and a new server. I will be posting Nikon related updates (if any) here and on http://www.nikonrumors.net.
You can also get NikonRumors updates on Twitter and Facebook.
Olympus filed an interesting patent in Japan for removing water drops from a lens by using a vibrating front element:
Here are another four patents applications for the following Olympus m4/3 lenses (also filed in Japan):
This video shows some of the upcoming Samsung NX products (the previous video was promptly removed):
Update: the video was removed from Vimeo.
One of the lenses in the video looks like the previously rumored 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6. Looking at the picture from the end of the video, the Samsung NX100 appears to be bigger than the NX10. New accessories, like an external flash and electronic viewfinder, are also shown. The NX100 is expected to have the same sensor as the NX10 (14.6MP APS-C CMOS), even though some reports indicated a new 16MP sensor. As previously reported, the Samsung NX5 will not be available in the US.
Expect the official announcement on September 14th, 2010.
The previous reported Nik HDR Efex Pro software is now official. You can see all details here.
Full press release after the break:
This is the invitation Samsung sent to the press for Photokina:

I think they may be talking about the upcoming Samsung NX100 camera.
